We started offering Internet Explorer instances in June 2014. Almost 3 years later, less than 0.01% of the screenshots have been done one of the 4 Internet Explorer instances we have available.
We think it is better to focus our efforts and resources on the Chrome and Firefox desktop browsers, as well as the Android and iPhone mobile instances.
We will hide the Internet Explorer instances from the dashboard in the next 2 weeks. They will still be available through the API. The instances will be completely removed by April 16th.
Please contact us if you have any concern.
Here are some of the updates to Browshot we rolled out in January 2017:
We have moved all static content to cdn.browshot.com. It is powered by the Amazon CloudFront CDN, replacing our previous Microsoft CDN. Some users were having issues with the previous DNS. We noticed better performances with the new CDN, especially in Asia
You can download the browshot API specifications in Swagger format. This allows you to create a library in pretty much any language.
We are upgrading Firefox to version 45.4.0. About half of the browsers have been upgraded, the rest will be upgraded as they restart during the week.
Here are some of the updates to Browshot we rolled out in September:
We've upgraded all Chrome instances to Chrome 51 browser. We are seeing much faster and better screenshots. The errors we were seeing with the old versions are gone.
We are rolling out a new core server in the US to follow our higher demand of US instances. This new server will allow us faster screenshots in the USA.
We've made significant performance improvements for the API calls that return a list of screenshots or instances: screenshot/list, instance/list. Internal APIs have been improved to shorten the processing of all screenshots.
Feedback: using the feedback form could result in an error (but the message was sent correctly).
Dashboard: retrieving the list of shared screenshots got faster.
Firefox: use a white background instead of black when taking screenshots of images.
